Meet the Logos HopeOM Ships International - bringing Knowledge, Help and Hope.Logos Hope is the newest ship in the fleet of OM Ships International. OMSI's first ship was the Logos which was launched in 1970 and travelled all over the world for 18 years before running aground in 1988 off the coast of Chile.
In 1977, OMSI launched the Doulos as a second ship to travel the world bringing a message of hope and good books to ports across the globe. Doulos is the worlds oldest ocean going passenger ship, built in 1914. Steve served on Doulos between 1985-1987 and again for a short time 1988/89. Then Steve and Heather were both on board between Feb 1995 and Sept 1997 when Steve worked as book exhibition manager and Heather worked as a nurse, at the information desk and as a creative co-ordinator.
![]() In 1989, a replacement for Logos was launched, the Logos II. The new ship was much bigger than the original Logos at 4800 tonnes. Over the past 18 years, some 10 million people have come on board the ship to visit the book fair or attend conferences in 168 ports in 76 different countries. Yet still many people have been unable to spend quality time on board or sometimes get up the gangway due to the size constraints of Logos II.
In 2001, it was decided that OMSI needed a larger ship, one that would be able to welcome everyone in a million that comes onboard the ship. Not just sending them around the book exhibition but giving each one a quality experience on board and the opportunity to here something of the message of hope and good news that the ship brings to every port. The vision for Logos Hope was born. |
